little moran grouse and woodcock hunts

Homesteaded in June of 1902 by the Grossman family, Little Moran has had many changes. The last major change came in 1983 when Steve and Gayle Grossman converted the farmstead into an all season hunting lodge, recreational resort and gun dog training kennel. We specialize in English Setters and pointing breeds with an emphasis in training ruffed grouse and woodcock dogs.

Located in central Minnesota 150 miles northwest of Minneapolis our name comes from the beautiful flowing Little Moran Creek that winds through the southern half the farm. We offer 320 acres of rich Minnesota farmland surrounded by majestic oaks and aspen forests that provide an abundance of habitat for ruffed grouse, woodcock, whitetail deer and pheasant. Our upland cover is made up of weedy timber, cattail sloughs, grain fields and mixed native prairie grasses. We cater to hunters who appreciate top quality cover, strong flying birds and outstanding dog work. If you enjoy bird hunting, beautiful dogs, and an exceptional outdoor experience you’ll fit right in at Little Moran.

The solitude of Little Moran Creek, groomed hiking and biking trails and north country surroundings make Little Moran the perfect place for corporate retreats and conferences. You will receive personal attention and hospitality that will allow you time to spend with your guests leaving everything else to the staff at Little Moran. Our knowledgeable event planner will take care of your every need making your stay a truly memorable experience.

The pheasant hunting begins in early September and ends in early May. Hunting licenses not needed while hunting pheasant, chukar partridge, quail or turkey. There are no limits set on any of these birds, however a Minnesota state hunting license is required for Ruffed Grouse and Woodcock. These native birds can only be harvested during the Minnesota season beginning in mid September through December 30 and a daily bag limit must be followed.

We are a semi-private club, offering memberships for family and businesses to use as often as you wish. We do allow non-members on a limited basis, however there are restrictions to usage and availability.

Hunt club membership amenities include; experienced guides, unlimited pheasant hunting, hunting priority, non-release hunting, game bird processing, facility use, and a 9 month season for you to hunt when it’s convenient for you. In addition we also offer ruffed grouse, woodcock, and archery hunting for whitetail deer and turkey.

In August of 2003 a fire destroyed our main lodge, but much has come from those ashes. Our new log lodge and guest cabins are what you would expect to find in a hunting camp located "Up North". The new facilities have increased our lodging capacities which provide a private and comfortable atmosphere that you would expect to find in a "North Country Lodge" and grouse camp.

We have much to offer here, with 4 guest cabins that accommodate 26 overnight guests, the Granary dinning room with seating for 50+ dinner guests. Maintained and groomed logging roads for biking or hiking that follow Little Moran Creek.

Truly an all season resort the winter months are enjoyed by hunting, ice fishing, and snowmobiling along the Todd County trail system which winds along Little Moran Creek. There are 3 different routes of snowmobile trails that surround the farm, with many stops along the way for gas, and food. This part of Minnesota has much to offer.

Our Granary restaurant features gourmet game dinners that will complete you business conference, family get together, or a intimate meal for friends. There is no question you will find our dining room a great place to end your day. Our friendly staff and personal hospitality will surely bring you back time and again.
